11. Standing back






I was able to make this photograph without too much difficulty once I had got into the right position; the 105 mm zoom lens gave me a good scope as a longer lens such as a 200 mm would have cropped the area around the figures and not shown so much of their environment. The compressed effect is visible in the way the hills clump together as if they are almost on the same plane when in fact, there is considerable distance between them.

Standing on the other side of a riverbed, a lot of information needed excluding from the foreground to avoid distracting the eye and allowing it to focus more easily on the maroon clad figures. The tree is in focus here as well as the figures which would not have been possible had one been close up.

The aperture of f5.6 allowed for definition throughout the frame.
